Falmouth Art Market: Call for Artists and Musicians | Cape Cod ...

FALMOUTH ART MARKET

PRESS RELEASE, May 25, 2012

Falmouth Art Market Announces Sixth Season, Calls for Artists, Musicians

The Falmouth Art Market opens for its sixth season on Tuesday, June 26, at Town Hall Square, in front of Falmouth Town Hall on Main Street. The art market will offer fine arts and crafts, musical entertainment, and community information from 2 PM until dusk every Tuesday through August 28.

Marty Tulloch, former director of the Falmouth Cultural Council, founded the Art Market in 2007 as a way of supporting local artists and musicians by giving them an affordable weekly venue to show and sell their artwork and to provide public performance space.

This year more of the day to day operation of the Market will be managed by Candy Proctor in collaboration with several other dedicated Art Market artists.

?Marty has been our hero,? said Ms. Proctor. ?He has put in countless hours without any backup; essentially he has had to be a one-man show.? Now it is time for some of us to step up and shoulder more of the responsibility, giving Marty a little more free time to explore other creative avenues.?

Ms. Proctor has created a new website for the art market at Falmouth Art Market. There, visitors and artists may check on scheduled activities and entertainment and learn more about participating artists and musicians. Links are also provided to local organizations.

The market is open to local artists in all media, including visual artists, potters, fiber artists, illustrators, photographers, print makers, glass blowers, jewelers, authors and poets, and more. Each week, a different artistic medium will be highlighted.

Visitors are invited to stroll, view the work of the artists and artisans, or just relax and enjoy the music. Two musical acts are scheduled each week, one from 2:30 to 5 PM and another from 5 to 7:30 PM. There will be folk and fiddle music, Celtic music, sea shanties, jazz, swing, and blues, popular music, and classical music: something for every taste.

No fees are required for participation in the market; instead artists donate a portion of their sales to the Art Market to pay expenses, including an honorarium for musicians, and to contribute to the Falmouth Cultural Council.

Artists and musicians wishing to participate are asked to contact Ms. Proctor at rockandy@aol.com or through the contact link at Falmouth Art Market.

The Art market is also seeking a small PA system for the summer. Anyone able to provide one is asked to get in touch with Ms. Proctor.
