Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana?s NewsCenter) - If Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry's budget proposal for the coming year is given the green light, people living within the city limits will see their property taxes go up.
Mayor Henry unveiled his proposed $139.8 million spending plan Thursday afternoon.
The mayor says property tax caps have affected their bottom line, so they are using every resource the state has available to them to help make ends meet including raising property taxes.
Mayor Henry says, ?The state allows us to adjust our budget a little bit, everybody all cities, in order to accommodate for changes in the economy.?
According to a spokesman for the Henry Administration, a home with an access valuation of $100,000 will see their property taxes increase two dollars a month.
